Vicious Cycles, Not Cats

Even if all the cats are removed from a community cat “gathering” area, also called a “colony,” new and unsterilized breeding cats are drawn to whatever food source was present and—you guessed it—the cycle starts all over again. More and more animal control agencies are seeing the light and thankfully adopting TNR policies, but not nearly enough. Their cruel actions to kill stray and community cats are senseless and expensive to us taxpayers. The TNR movement will continue to grow as more people are educated about its benefits. Please, do tell a friend. Better yet, come join our efforts at Stray Cat Alliance.

Community cats are not genetically different from pet cats. They’re still…cats! Through no fault of their own—make that a human’s fault—they’ve been abandoned, gotten lost or were born because their owners did not get their parents fixed. Without human intervention—that’s you—they’re forced to live challenging lives on the streets. Don’t expect them to act like pet cats, especially at first, for they’re typically afraid of humans. It’s up to us humans, however, to make sure they are sterilized, vaccinated, fed properly and given proper medical care. A community cat would tell you, “Yes, it’s tough out here, but I want to live."

Precious community cat, at Stray Cat Alliance, we hear your plea. And we’re here for you.
