Lend a Paw at Stray Cat Alliance

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer with Stray Cat Alliance!

If you love cats and want to join us in building a No Kill Nation one stray at a time, Stray Cat Alliance has a volunteer opportunity for you! Not only will you find a network of great people, support, and camaraderie but you will experience that incredible feeling that comes with knowing YOU are making a direct difference in the life of a cat! Because Stray Cat Alliance is a volunteer based organization, it is caring people like you that help us reach as many cats in need as possible.

To begin the process, please complete the volunteer application form:

• Application for adults
• Application for minors (ages 12-17)

If you are between the ages of 12-17, then you must complete the minor application form.

Once you complete the form, click the submit button at the bottom. A coordinator will then review your application and contact you. Please reach out to volunteers@straycatalliance.org if you have any questions about our volunteer program.

Together we can find the perfect volunteer opportunity to match your lifestyle and available time. Here are some of the many exciting volunteer opportunities available:

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Cat Care – Help feed, clean, and socialize the cats and kittens at our facility.
  • Clinic – Help feed and clean cats in our clinic and assist with clinic stocking.
  • Events – Help organize and execute adoption events, open houses, fundraisers, spay/neuter days, donor events, and more.
  • Foster – Provide a temporary home for a rescued cat or kitten. You can see the cats waiting for a foster on our new Trello board!
  • Hotline – Assist the public with cat information and resources. Cat experience and knowledge is preferred!
  • Shelter Intervention – Engage with community members at the city shelter in South LA who find cats and kittens and are able to foster them at home.
  • Transportation – Transport cats from LA city shelters to our facility, to and from foster homes, and more.
  • TNR – Help with humane trapping, spay/neutering, and returning cats back to their communities.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Administration – Help with phone calls, data entry, and mailings.
  • Adoptions – Help facilitate adoptions by interviewing applicants and matching them with kittens and cats. This opportunity is virtual!
  • Cat Care – Help feed, clean, and socialize our very special kitties at our shelter.
  • Cat Transporter – Transport cats to veterinary visits and from the shelter to our facility.
  • Cat Trapper – Help put an end to cat overpopulation by trapping, fixing, and returning cats back to their homes.
  • Feed a Cat Colony – Help monitor, feed, and maintain a colony of community cats.
  • Foster – Provide a temporary home for a rescued cat or kitten. You can see the cats waiting for a foster on our new Trello board!
  • Fundraising and Special Events – Help plan and staff special fundraising events.
  • Hotline – Assist the public with Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) information.
  • Outreach Booths – Help educate the public about community cats and responsible pet ownership.
  • RTH Support – Canvas neighborhoods with door hangers around RTH release sites and help us release cats back to their homes in the Garden Grove area. What is RTH?
  • Shelter Intervention – Engage with community members at the city shelter in South LA who find cats and kittens and are able to foster them at home.
  • Social Media – If you are a Twitch Specialist, Youtube Guru, or LinkedIn Luminary, we need your insight!
  • Trap Depots – Operate and show others how to use traps for humane trap, neuter, return (TNR).
