It's Kitten Season Big Time!

Well Kitten Season is in full swing. We've been getting calls from people who have seen mean people hosing down a mom cat trying to get to her babies, cats purposely closed up under buildings, and even good, well meaning rescuers so overburdened they are contemplating taking kittens to the pound. YIKES. Its a mad, mad world out there. We have to keep first things first. If you see a litter of kittens and they are in a safe backyard, etc, its OK to trap, fix and return them. It really is. If they are in grave danger, then finding them homes is great. But that's if you have the room. If you take them and find another rescue to take them, you are not only burdening that rescue, that rescue might not be as reputable as you think. Careful. There are a lot of them that look good on the outside and do awful things, allowing cats/kittens to live in cages, adopting them out without sterilization, or just killing them because they don't get adopted. It’s true. And if you find a litter and have no one to take them, please do NOT take them to the pound. They are killing beautiful, sweet, healthy kittens by the bucket load right now. Please do not add to the mass murder. If you have to leave them, leave them. At least that way, they have a chance. Do your best to sterilize and feed but again, the pound is not an option.

a bag of cat food is $5 a week...how do I know? I'm buying one...each week! Cats or kittens can live off of food once in the morning, 6am, and once at night, 6pm. it's that simple...but please don't take them to the pound.
